Gratitude for online meetings

Welcome Cal. I hope you find what you need here. I'm here because I travel a lot in pretty remote places where no Al-Anon meetings exist: but I travel with a recovering alcoholic (my spouse) and his sister and brother-in-law who carry a lot of old baggage and behavior from their dysfunctional growing-up years, and so I VERY much need Al-Anon contact when we travel. So for today, as I find myself in a new RV park, I am profoundly grateful for wifi in the park and for this online access to others who are willing to share their experience, strength, and hope.
Keep coming back.

Today I want to stop and count my blessings. I have been able to make my major move from Austin, TX to Kalispell, MT. I love this wonderful country. Everyone has cautioned me about the winters. For this I reply, I am not a Texan (though I was born in Texas), I am an Okie Sooner. I was raised in Tipton, OK. Actually, I will be ready for whatever challenges await me in this wonderful country with the Northern Lights. For this summer I am able to open windows at night and close windows in the day time, I do not need closed-up air-conditioning.

Gratitude has been one of the fulcrums that I've used consistently to remind me that the immediate disaster isn't the totality of my life. Nice perspective when I need it.

Gratitude - My Higher Power's Path

There are times when I do question my HP's Path. I have been single for over 30 years. I would want to have an intimate relationship, but it seems when I do feel an attraction it is totally inappropriate. So, in moving to MT I moved away from this as well as my alcholics in my life.

So, I listen to the wind in the pines, and I step back and trust my HP knows what my needs are better than I do.

Cool. No matter where I go, there I am...and - if I'm looking for it - the HP is, also.

I am grateful for this beautiful morning and to live in a 2 bedroom log cabin about 12 miles from town. As I sit here with my door open for the cool mountain air with a sweater on I am thankful for my blessings Smile It is wonderful to not need air-conditioning.

I have so much to be grateful for today.
I am back home after seven weeks on the road, and while I may prefer the remote places we travel to, a plus of being home is that I can once again attend my favorite Al-Anon meetings.
It's late July and the weather is still pleasantly cool - no need for AC!
I am meeting with my sponsor tomorrow - she is a blessing in my life.
I am in a solid relationship where my husband and I share many common interests and can spend long stretches of time together in relative harmony.
The list can go on and on today. I'm grateful for my life as it is today.

I'm so grateful today for progress in the program.
Once upon a time I forgot such essentials as turning to my HP, calling a sponsor (let alone calling anyone else!!!), turning things over, letting go and letting God.
This week my spouse had a mini-crisis in serenity. My old self would have responded with anger, coldness, self-righteousness. Thanks to the principles of the program I:
--got on my knees and asked for guidance
--called my sponsor
--called another program member because my sponsor wasn't available
--was able to talk the problem through with my spouse calmly and reasonably, praising him for progress made and owning my own emotions and responses.
It's a genuine miracle!!!

Elizabeth:

Wow, it's hard to imagine... Thanks for spreading the joy and the news. If you can bottle this, it's sure to sell.

Cool
